Yes we do translation. Using a google translate tool is suitable for most businesses, however when it comes to technical terminology then professional translation might be in order. It is common for marketing material to be professionally translated as well. At XI we have worked in english/french, and english/spanish websites. Those particular sites had technical terminology that required precision.
On another note - on your website try not to use text in images, as if you are using a translate tool, it will only pick up the text, not text in images. |

So what do you do if your website has been hacked?
- Change your passwords. All of them, especially FTP, MySQL.
- Change your secret keys.
- Check your .htaccess file for hacks - hackers can use your .htaccess to redirect to malicious sites from your URL.
- Consider deleting everything - A sure way to remove hacks that currently exist, is to delete all the files from your web space, and clear out your database

Over the past few years we have seen more and more websites getting hacked. Here are some things to look out for:
- Don't post word documents or excel files, use pdf documents only.
- Don't mess with permissions of your folders if you can help it, chmod 777 can bite you in the butt.

To check for sites who are copying your web pages, use Copyscape. This tool will scan for duplicates of your material.
Go to the link, which looks a bit like Google. Enter your website URL and click Go to search for copies of your page textual content on the web.

Browser Issues
Internet Explorer 7 has bugs that have been driving web designers crazy. When designing a website it is recommended to ensure the design works in multiple browsers.
A nasty one is IE7. It is easy to say to users, 'well, upgrade your browser' but not very practical. |
